We have always been fans of low-profile keyboards since they’re really aesthetically pleasing. The only problem that we have when it comes to these has always been the fact that such keyboards weren’t made as great as they should be. Plus, the keyboards often didn’t feature mechanical key switches which is vital.
It’s a good thing that Cooler Master released their SK630 Keyboard – a low-profile, tenkeyless keyboard that exhibits the traditional minimal style of the popular chiclet keyboards. The company also integrated this product with a premium style and components that Cooler Master is known for. The keyboard includes a nice aluminum top plate, the Cherry MX low profile key switches, RGB lighting, and a floating key design.
Is this product from Cooler Master that quality low-profile keyboard that you’ve always wanted to have? Today, we’re going to focus on the SK630 Keyboard to checkout its features, specifications, performance, and if it’s really a good keyboard to invest in.

Cooler Master SK630 Keyboard Review
Taking a look at the SK630 Keyboard from Cool Master gives you that conventional appearance of a TKL keyboard; at a distance, you wouldn’t even notice that it utilizes classic full-sized switches.
Generally, this is still a very compact board without any dedicated media keys and hardly has any bezels. Cool Master has obviously assumed that anyone who purchases these types of keyboards also want to have as much space as possible, so they chose this design for their SK630 Keyboard.
It’s also worth noting that the keyboard has a fixed brushed aluminum top plate which is different from the rest of the board since it’s mostly made out of plastic. Thing is, the addition of the metallic top plate not only adds to the aesthetics of the SK630, but it also increases its structural rigidity. In addition, the top plate’s edges are bevelled which makes everything look really sleek and stylish, but still in a minimalistic manner.
For the switches, Cooler Master made use of the Cherry MX Low Profile RGB switches; for the function keys, the company included a ton of additional on-the-fly functions for everyone’s convenience. You can select from all the present RGB LED modes then customize the backlights via these keys. The play / skip / pause, and volume keys are also set as secondary functions on the HOME, INS, and PGUP keys which are located above the arrow keys.
At the top edge portion of the SK630 Keyboard, you will find that one USB C port. If you decide to flip the keyboard over, you won’t see anything interesting there since Cooler Master left it quite plain and simple. You will find the company’s logo positioned at the center of the plastic frame, while four rubber pads are on each corner of the board.
Since this is categorized as a low-profile keyboard, it’s not a surprise that there aren’t any feet to raise the board and it simply stays in its default height.

Using the Product
We tested the SK630 Keyboard for about two weeks and we’ve really enjoyed its low-profile design. Pressing the keys were comfortable and we didn’t have any issues in missing out on them during presses. We also didn’t have any problems getting used to the keys since these were closer to each other than the standard keyboards we use.
When it comes to gaming, the SK630 Keyboard’s higher actuation point made our entire game time more agile. We aren’t pro gamers, so this didn’t really make a difference in our score in games, but it did feel good and it also wasn’t too sensitive which is the most important element for keyboards.
The switches also felt great when it came to typing, though we did make more typos on this SK630 Keyboard compared to when we used our regular one. Simultaneously, the Cooler Master SK630 Keyboard is a quiet mechanical board.
Its new switch design is more silent compared to our o-ring keyboards and this is by a good margin. So if you’re someone who shares a space with someone else, then the Cooler Master SK630 Keyboard is probably one of the most considerate and efficient mechanical keyboards around.
We also have to note that this is the same present programming that we’ve seen on other keyboards from Cooler Master, and we really find this impressive. With that, we can definitely say that the SK630 Keyboard performed excellently and we’re giving it a thumbs-up for this.
Conclusion
The SK630 Keyboard from Cooler Master is a great deal for fans of low profile peripherals. The new low profile key switches are a great improvement from the previous ML switches and these are even great for gaming. While there are some things that we wish to see in future releases, such as extra weight and keycap coating, we think that the SK630 is definitely solid and it’s a great entry to the company’s line of keyboards.
If you’re a gamer or a regular user who is looking for a high-profile keyboard with a low profile design, we highly recommend the Cooler Master SK630 Keyboard.
